THE 1st STUDY VISIT IN LUBLIN WITHIN THE INTERNATIONAL PROJECT "QKIS (Quadraspidiotus Knowledge Information System) network"
The 1st study visit within the "QKIS (Quadraspidiotus Knowledge Information System) network" project will take place at the University of Life Sciences in Lublin (Poland) on June 18-19, 2024. Awaited meeting will be held at the Department of Plant Protection (Subdepartment of Entomology) University of Life Sciences in Lublin and the hosts of the meeting will be:

Representatives from Association of Fruit Growers of the Czech Republic Biosad z.s. (Czech Republic), the Institute of Plant Protection, Agricultural Research Center (Hungary) and partners from the University of Belgrade (Serbia) will take a part in the study visit as the members of the project consortium.
This meeting is the first of three planned study visits, during which Consortium members will work on an invasive pest species, the San José scale (SJS), occurring in the V4 region.
WORKSHOP-DAY
At the laboratory of the Department of Plant Protection (University of Life Sciences in Lublin) the Hosts of the meeting will conduct practical training on the: SJS identification, preparation of microscope slides, the morphological features of particular developmental stages (under the optical microscopy), degree days (effectiveness temperatures) monitoring based on research methodology and SJS management methods.
NETWORKING-DAY
Project Partners will take a part in field trips to orchards located in Opole district(commune: Wilków, Łaziska). During the field trips Partners will have the opportunity to observe the damage caused by SJS in Polish orchards, collect material for analysis and obtain information regarding orchard farmers' problems caused by the SJS feeding.
One of the goals of the study visit is to exchange the knowledge and experiences between Project Partners and work on the "Practical guide on SJS monitoring and management in V4 region”. This will be used to create future recommendation for fruit producers and other stakeholders on the SJS management.
In connection with planned field trips by members of the Project Consortium, we invite orchard owners who have problems with the San Jose scale to contact us by e-mail at: tarcznik@gmail.com.

Základní informace o VŠUO
VÝZKUMNÝ A ŠLECHTITELSKÝ ÚSTAV OVOCNÁŘSKÝ HOLOVOUSY s.r.o. se zabývá výzkumem problematiky ovocnářství a šlechtěním ovocných plodin kontinuálně téměř sedm desetiletí. Výzkumná činnost ústavu se prakticky týká všech ovocných plodin, které se pěstují na území České republiky jako tržní kultury. V rámci řešení výzkumných projektů podporovaných různými poskytovateli (MZe/ NAZV, MŠMT, GAČR , MK , TAČR) vytváří téměř všechny typy výstupů definované Metodikami hodnocení výsledků výzkumné organizace a předávané do Rejstříku informací výsledků. Jedná se jak o výsledky publikačního charakteru, tak i o výsledky aplikované. Výzkumní a vědečtí pracovníci publikují výsledky výzkumu v impaktovaných, recenzovaných, ale i dalších odborných a populárních časopisech Organizace vydává již 60 let Vědecké práce ovocnářské. Časopis uveřejňuje původní vědecké práce z odvětví ovocnářství. Je recenzovaným časopisem zařazeným do Seznamu recenzovaných neimpaktovaných časopisů (periodik) vydávaných v České republice. Je citován v CA B Abstracts/Horticultural Science Abstracts, Plant Breeding Abstracts, AGRIS.
K úspěšně komercializovaným výsledkům patří právně chráněné odrůdy, dosud bylo přihlášeno a registrováno téměř 85 odrůd jednotlivých ovocných druhů, další odrůdy procházejí registračním řízením. Řadě odrůd byla udělena ochrana práv v ČR a následně i v Evropské unii. Zejména o odrůdy třešní je ve světě velký zájem, dvěma odrůdám byl udělen US Plant Patent. Dále bylo ve VŠÚO Holovousy za poslední pětileté období zrealizováno několik výsledků v oblasti poloprovozu a ověřených technologií smluvně předaných uživateli. Významnou složku transferu výsledků výzkumu do praxe představují pěstitelské metodiky, které jsou předávány uživatelům - profesním pěstitelům ovoce.
